Patient safety and high quality care are priorities at Massachusetts hospitals, and Bay State hospitals are national leaders in voluntary reporting of patient quality and safety information. Massachusetts hospitals are committed to doing even more to improve healthcare quality and patient safety. The Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA) Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed an association-wide initiative to move beyond public reporting and transparency to make measurable, concrete improvements in hospitals' performance.

MHA Board Endorsed Quality and Safety Goals are:

1. Reduce preventable hospital acquired conditions of CAUTI, CLABSI and SSI by 

    40% by 2015

2. Reduce preventable readmissions by 20% by 2015

 

3.Reduce preventable mortality
