Narrative for Mount Auburn Hospital

Mount Auburn Hospital remains committed to PatientCareLink and to improving the quality and safety of our patients' experience.

The public reporting of our planned and actual staffing plans along with our additional comments allows us to provide a picture of our hospital experience.

Staffing is a HIGH priority for Mount Auburn and the levels are evaluated continuously throughout all three shifts. Consideration is given to the fluctuating census, the patient acuity and the experience levels of the staff. At times decisions are made to keep additional staff on the units and this can result in slightly higher patient care hours.

Recent initiatives at Mount Auburn Hospital to enhance patient quality and safety include electronic nursing documentation (ex. electronic flowsheets, electronic medication administration records and bedside medication verification/barcoding) and the transition to all private rooms. Throughout the implementation of these important enhancements, staffing levels were adjusted slightly to support staff through the transitions. Hence, there may be slight periods of time where staffing is above anticipated levels. The increased patient care hours are temporary situational adjustments to enhance the safety and overall experience of our patients.
