As a part of our commitment to PatientCareLink and a progressive approach to improving quality and safety for our patients, we welcome the opportunity to display our “nursing sensitive” measures as well as our planned staffing pattern. We plan to use these results to improve our care over time. As an example, we identified that our fall rate, although average for the patient population; did not trend in a positive direction over time. Our Fall Committee revamped the manner in which falls are reviewed and found that communication of fall risk and intervention could improve. We have seen a dramatic drop in the number falls from a tending rate of 4.8 in 2011 to a current trending rate of 3.2. The opportunity offered by Patient First to share data and compare successes is the underpinning to improved outcomes.
