Additional Unit Information: |
The Adolescent Treatment Unit provides psychiatric treatment and support for teenagers, ages 13 to 17 in a safe and caring environment. Treatment programs are offered for depression, anxiety, addictions, and other mental illnesses. Support is also provided for teens who have thoughts of suicide or self-harming behaviors. At Butler Hospital, a team of mental health providers work together to help you return to health. Treatment programs and activities take place daily on the unit and include a multi-dimensional approach to wellness by combining individual treatment, group therapies, and medications. On a daily basis therapeutic groups such as community meetings, occupational therapy groups, and educational groups about your illness and medications are offered. In addition, activities groups, tutoring for school work, and individual meetings with your treatment team take place to help you regain control of your life and health. Your family's involvement, and others who play a significant role in your life, is encouraged. They can be very important to the success of your treatment. It is not uncommon for people who struggle with psychiatric disorders, such as depression or anxiety to also have an active dependency on alcohol or other drugs. We are prepared to meet the needs of patients who may also require help for substance abuse issues. |

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types
of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit
staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each
hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related
to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
