Additional Unit Information: |
The Adult Intensive Treatment Unit provides care and support for adults with psychiatric conditions such as major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Treatment for these and other mental illnesses is provided in a safe and caring environment. Treatment programs and activities take place on the unit daily and are designed to help you regain your health. Therapeutic activities include sensory modulation and coping skills groups, medication education groups, patient/family education and support groups, spirituality groups, and pet therapy. Medications are also an important part of your treatment. Your doctor will develop and discuss a medication plan with you. Treatment team members are available to talk with you at any time to provide support and personal assistance. Your family's involvement, and others who play a significant role in your life, is encouraged. They can be very important to the success of your treatment. However, no contact with your family or others will be made without your signed consent. It is not uncommon for people who struggle with psychiatric disorders, such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or post traumatic stress disorder, to also have an active dependency on alcohol or other drugs. We are prepared to meet the needs of patients who may also require help for substance abuse issues. |

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types
of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit
staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each
hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related
to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
