Narrative for MetroWest Medical Center - Framingham Campus

MWMC fall prevention plays a significant role in providing every patient with safe and quality care. We have an interdisciplinary Fall Prevention Committee that focuses on identifying patient safety initiatives and our progress towards zero falls with injury. We have decreased falls with injury in all patient care areas by remaining consistent when identifying high fall risk patients and initiating the appropriate interventions. We recognized a need for updated fall risk signage and safety alarms and have implemented changes. Ongoing education and research of evidence-based fall prevention practices will help us make future modifications so that we can be successful in preventing falls.

MWMC pressure injury prevention is also important in providing high quality patient care. We have an interdisciplinary Pressure Ulcer Prevention Committee that focuses on identifying patient safety initiatives and our progress toward zero pressure injury. We have decreased pressure injury in all patient care areas by remaining consistent when identifying high risk patients and initiating the appropriate interventions. Ongoing education and research of evidence based prevention practices will help us make future modifications so that we can be successful in preventing PUIs.
