Other Reasons for +/- 5% Variance
Granger 2 is the only medical-surgical unit at Marlborough Hospital and has a mximum census of 35 patients. It accepts ED admissions,same day surgical admissions and transfers from the ICU. It is a busy patient care unit and often discharges and admits 12-15 patients per day. The census can vary greatly and is often difficult tp predict. During FY 2007, our patient volume increased on Granger 2 and new positions were added to the budget midyear. It has taken nearly 6 months to recruit for and hire into these new positions which will eventually help to increase our actual patient care hours.
