Additional Unit Information:
In the past and throughout 2008 the 11 Critical Care beds were all ICU level of care. In completing the second year of the Intensivist program it has become apparent that we do not need 11 Critical Care beds. However there is a level of care between ICU and telemtry that we do need for our patient population. For 2009 we are planning to run the original Critcal Care unit of 11 beds with the same ICU staff. However, some of the census will be comprised of Critical Care Patients with 1:1 or 2:1 assignments and some of the beds will be Adult Intermediate care beds (AIPC) within the ICU and have 3:1 assignments. The targeted combined HPPD or Pateitn's First will be a composite of ICU level of care and Intermediate. The HPPD will be reported as one because it is the same unit and staff with no separation. The assignments will be fluid and adjusted based on the presenting patient population.
