Additional Unit Information:
Martha's Vineyard Hospital is a critical access hospital, the inpatient unit is a mixed unit comprised primarily of geriatric patients. The medical surgical beds can be used as skilled nursing beds for patients requiring inpatient rehabiliation services; physical therapy and occupational therapy is available during the day shift every day. Staffing is adjusted daily based on the acuity of paitents, age and mental status. Staffing is supplemented with additional caregivers when needed as in the case of patients requring 1:1 observation or pediatric patients. Respiratory therapy is in house 12 hours a day and on call the other 12 hours. During the summer months a hospitalist is on duty 12 hours a day.
