Nurse Manager helps out when staffing needs arise. Unable to carve out orientation hours, preceptor hours, council, transporting of patients, response to emergency calls, class time (e.g. ACLS, Dr. Armstrong, PALS, BLS) QA & other performance improvement initiatives are performed by staff during their clinical work hours Staff do after hours EKGs and respiratory treatments when required Staff also responsible for: insertion of catheters for VCUGs in xray; sedation and monitoring for MRI and CT scans; care of outpatients requiring IM or IV antibiotics or other injections, insertion of NG tubes and catheters for specimen collection or applying urine bag for specimen collection
 
Additional Comments
In FY 2011 there were 81 outpatient pediatric clinic visits that impacted this unit and were not captured by productivity data. The pediatric nursing staff on this unit provided outpatient care/procedure care which was required during the clinic visit, in addition to their inpatient unit care responsibilities.
