Additional Unit Information:
Nursing care is organized to support team work and to meet a philosophy of demonstration of caring behaviors to our patients. Low nursing turnover promotes consistency and continuity in care delivery. Our nursing staff members also participate in the Division of Nursing's Shared Governance structure. The CVU is a fully monitored Cardio/Vascular Unit treating pre and post cardiac catheterization, cardiac angioplasty, EP studies, ablations, Pacemakers, ICDs and endovascular diagnostic procedures. Implementing Bedside Handover.

Other Team Members:
Interpreter services 24/7 This unit cares for pre and post procedural patients and their volume is not included in the number of patient days. As such there are additional personnel on this unit to manage these patients, separate from the inpatients.

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
