Additional Unit Information:
This unit specializes in treating spinal cord injury, multiple trauma including hip fractures, cardiac, and other complex medical issues.Led by a board certified physiatrist, the interdisciplinary team provides intensive medical management along with 3 hours of therapy a dayover 5 days. Through a coordinated effort and close communication with our patients and their caregivers, we help to maximize abilities and independence. In our ongoing efforts to provide the best care possible, BRH supports Patient First initiatives embracing the opportuntity to benchmark with other rehabilitation hosptials in Massachusetts in nursing sensitive areas such as fall risk and development of pressure ulcers. The transparency afforded by Patient First reporting is another opportunity to share our efforts, provide quality care and learn from one another.

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
