Additional Unit Information:
There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed patient care units. Patient care units differ based upon the types of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered. Education and experience levels of staff, support from nurse educators and nure managers also facotr into unit staffing decisons as does the unique chartacteristics and mission of each hospital. It is also imprtant to look at patient outcomes, including fall rates, pressure ulser rates and Hosptial Compare measures related to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care.
