| Physical Medicine and Rehab (PM&R) attending MDs on unit daily, as well as pediatricians/pediatric NPs. Psychiatry consultation available daily. There is a child life specialist on the unit daily, as well. Nursing supervisor providing leadership/administrative coverage consistently evenings, nights and weekends. Nursing Education/CNS team provides support across all 5 inpatient units, roles are not unit based. Specialty nursing staff - infection preventionist and nurse informaticist, support all the inpatient units, as well. 1:1 patient safety assistants are assigned to patients requiring this intervention as needed from float pool. Nursing students are on the unit days/evenings on a regular basis. |

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types
of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit
staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each
hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related
to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
