| New England Baptist Hospital is an elective surgical hospital where the number of patients and their acuity can vary greatly throughout the week. We adjust our staffing to the volume and acuity needs of our patients. We are unable to flex down enough when the census drops below the budgeted amount. The inability to flex down enough results in periods of overstaffing and a higher than planned worked hours per patient day. |
