Spaulding Cambridge utilizes the Quadramed nursing acuity tool to identify changes in nursing workload which will require staffing adjustments. We have also experienced a significant increase in our patient acuity due to CMS changes in admission criteria for LTACS. 4 West has seen a continued increase in patients admitted with significant traumatic brain injuries in a low level coma state who require intensive nursing care. Also patients who are emerging from brain injury requiring 1:1 observation due to agitation and unsafe behaviors.
