Other Reasons for +/- 5% Variance
The new critical care staffing legislation was put into effect in the middle of the year. We made our best guess as to how that would impact staffing and our care hours per patient day. As it turns out, we estimated too low. Therefore, add'l staffing was required thus increasing our care hours. We now have more accurate information as to the impact as we move forward into 2018. Adjustments will be made in our staffing plans.
