Additional Unit Information: |
The interdisciplinary rehabilitation team, led by a doctor of rehabilitation, creates individualized patient care plans for patients with multiple sclerosis, cardiac, pulmonary, spinal cord injury, orthopedic and amputation. The team utilizes clinical practice guidelines and quality initiatives to drive superior patient outcomes and to help patients return to home safely. |
|
|
Other Team Members: |
3 South focus is the rehabilitation of those patients who have had spinal surgery, cardiac intervention and specialized care of patients who have a left ventricular assist device placed. The rehabilitation team includes physiatry specialized in the care and treatment of spinal cord injury related to trauma as well as surgical intervention. This unit has developed a relationship with medical centers located in Boston to further education and skill in the care/support required by patients who rely on cardiac support of the LVAD or Life Vest. |

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types
of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit
staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each
hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related
to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
