Additional Unit Information:
We often have Social Work and or Master's Level Psychology Students fulfilling internship requirements on the unit. We also have Nursing students completing a Psychiatric rotation several weeks each year.

Other Team Members:
This unit has the following additional Staffing: Director 1.0 FTE (covers both Inpatient and PHP services); Nurse Manager 0.6 FTE (and 0.4 Clinical Case Management UR); Clinical Case Management (UR) 0.6 FTE; Licensed Clinical Case Management (2.4 FTE); Group (Recreation/Milieu) Therapists (3.4 FTE); Unit Secretary (1.5 FTE); 1:1 Patient Observers PRN. Additionally, we have 5 per diem Nurse Practitioners who each provide H&P's and Medical Consults as needed of our inpatients. On the above Grids the Day and Evening RN number reflects that we require 3 RN's at a census of 17 and 4 at a census of 18 for the Day/Evening shifts.

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
