Other Reasons for +/- 5% Variance
The emergency department experienced a 2.5 % increase in patient volume beyond what was predicted in budget. The emergency department did utilize voluntary staff on call programs to meet the increased demand in addition to use of contract/agency staff to support the patient volume.

Additional Comments
The emergency department has a nurse manager on evening and night shift, along with a day shift director. In addition a Bed Manager is present in the ED monday-friday, 11 am- 7pm to help facilitate patient throughput during the busiest hours.
