Cambridge Health Alliance - Everett - West 3

Please note: MHA and our member hospitals are committed to delivering the most reliable, transparent data on staffing. Due to the extreme and unprecedented challenges that hospitals are facing through the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not possible to accurately capture staffing data representative of 2020 and 2021. Other healthcare authorities across the country have also suspended data collection over the course of the pandemic, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). We look forward to resuming regular public posting of staffing plans and data in 2022 and 2023, should circumstances permit.

We welcome any questions about staffing data, which can be directed to Pat Noga, MHA's Vice President of Clinical Affairs at pnoga@mhalink.org.

Our Educators/Clinical Specialists function under a flexible schedule. In addition to development and presentation of educational programs and initiatives, they work with managers on staff competencies and compliance by staff to regulations and best practices. This is primarily due to needs in patient flow and admissions. Interpreters available all shifts. Off-Shift Manager (Supervisor) available Mon-Fri Eves and Nights, weekends, and holidays. Nurse Manager has 24 hour accountability. Nursing education provided by centralized department and is not unit-based. Charge nurse in RN numbers listed above. Precepting, orientation and competency best practice education require increased staffing.

There are many variables to consider in establishing safe, efficiently staffed hospital units. Patient care units differ based upon the types of patients cared for on a given unit, and the way in which care is organized and delivered there. Education and experience levels of unit staff, support from nurse educators and nurse managers also factor into unit staffing decisions, as does the unique characteristics and mission of each hospital. It is also important to look at patient outcomes (including fall rates, pressure ulcer rates, and Hospital Compare measures related to heart attack care, heart failure care, pneumonia care and surgical care) in the Performance Measures section of PatientCareLink.
