Mother and Baby RN staff are cross trained to care for patients in the Special Care Nursery. The Mother and Baby RN staff float to assist in the Special Care Nursery when the patient census increases however worked hours are reflected in the Mother and Baby Cost Center. Also, planned FY06 staffing included 2 RNs for an average daily census of 3.9. Actual average daily census was 3.4 and at times fluctuated below 3. Due to the fluctuating census, the 2nd planned RN was not always needed. As a result FY07 planned staffing was modified to WHPPD of 10.68.
